WELL HELLO THERE…

I get it—trusting someone you’ve never met in person is tough, especially in a world where we mostly connect through screens. That’s why I want to be more present online, to let you in on who I am beyond the photos I take.
So, here’s a sneak peek into the world of Anje van Dalen, photographer of Madison&West
My faith is at the core of everything I do. I truly believe that God placed me in this very specific position—to capture fleeting moments and to preserve it in photo format, not just for people, but as a way to serve Him too.
Home is where the heart is… and my heart is devoted to my husband, daughter, and our fur babies (our dog, cat, and bunny). Life is full (and never quiet), but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Oh, and plants make everything better!!
Music has always been a big part of my life. It has a way of inspiring me just as much as photography does.
New York has my heart. It’s where my husband and I got engaged, where we honeymooned, and where so many special memories were made.
When it comes to photography, Fujifilm is my ride-or-die (XT3 to be exact), and my Mitakon 35mm 0.95f is my absolute favourite lens for portraits. There’s just something about the way it captures light and emotion that speaks to me.
Photography to me:
Greek - “Photo / phos” means light
“Graphe” means drawing / writing
THEREFORE…
Photographer: artist drawing / writing with light
What I do does not define me… it is merely a tool, placing me in the very fortunate position to serve through what I do so God can do His work through me.
I am the camera God uses to write / draw His story by means of using His light so the heavens can be reflected here on earth..
I’m excited to share more of my story with you—both behind the camera and in front of it. Here’s to making connections that go beyond just a follow online or a visit on my website.
A very special thank you to my husband Chris van Dalen, who is the fantastic photographer of Studio 77 Productions for the beautiful portraits that he took of me, as well as all his support with my photography journey. I can honestly say most of the photographer that I am today is because of him!
